Gillette vs Johnson & Johnson - Sunday, Bloody Sunday!
On This date in history, King Camp Gillette begins selling safety razor blades for the first time. It's a little known fact that the safety blade was invented out of spite. You see, Gillette was in cahoots with the Johnson family and their BandAid business. The money was FLOWING in with all the barbers using the dull, dangerous blades on all the men, and Gillette, of course, got a handsome CUT of the BandAid sales. That partnership soon fell apart when Mr. Johnson felt that Gillette was BLEEDING him dry. Gillette wanted to get back at him; thus, the safety razor was born.
